Hi all, First thanks in advance, I've been lurking for a while and I now have a problem. I have a Seagate 7200.10 500GB Drive was in a LACIE external housing. I connected the power supply for another external drive to it by mistake, and was greeted by the smell of smoking electronics. Opened external housing, USB control board has obvious scorching. Removed HD, no obvious scorching visible on HDD PCB, tried to mount as an internal SATA drive. System will not power up with drive attached indicating a short. Was going to try to find another PCB to swap, but am having difficulty finding another board with the same firmware version. Drive has 350-400GB of data and was in excellent operable condition prior to incident, but there is no rush in obtaining the data. The drive details are: Model : ST3500830AS P/N: 9BJ13-100 Firmware : 3.AFD Main Controller IC: 100404226 (I understand this is the biggest chip on PCB side) If anyone has one of these, please let me know. Thanks in advance, Omega Leader |

Have you searched the forums for TVS? You may not need a new board.... |

Please ignore and close this thread, two quick snips to the TVS and I'm copying my data safely off. Thanks. |
