I have to admit I am new to drive recovery, but learning quickly. I have the Maxtor HD Doctor from salvationdata. If I understand correctly my heads and PCB are good but the firmware on the platters is damaged and I need an exact match donor with the firmware HA421DD0 to use on my patient drive and get the data back.

So ideally a whole working drive is best but a drive with a failed PCB might still be useful to me. Someone with more skills would probably have a better way, but for me it is a learning process!

Thanks for the reply..Stephen

Thanks Janos... I totally respect that and I did read the newbie files. Actually I am getting proper training and working with a professional. I don't do anything on any drive without his approval. They tell me in the case of this drive - a perfectly matched donor is the best chance of recovery... Guess we'll see :?

Ok, let me see....
Wich modules do you need?

(As far as i know / based on my experience the 90% of the maxtor cases not need "donor" for SA repairing.
A good engineer can repair the damaged SA by itself, or can recalculate/rebuild the missing modules without external resources.)
