I am searching a PCB for a SAMSUNG HD753LJ Rev.A 2008.03 by accident I had the same HDD, but with another production date 2007.12 - which at least showed me, that the above HDD still has some inner life, but with that version it did not show up, at least it was spinning .. thus I guess wrong firmware (though as I cannot access the model for which I am searching a new PCB, I cannot give the correct Firmware version and go by production date) I am also willing to buy a whole HDD ... just desperately trying to recover some data. Thank you |

on request .. here some more details + image: The HDD was usually mounted in an external case (icybox), which was usually made for two HDD and worked well there. After we mounted a second one - everything seemed fine. But when I looked at the case some hours later, the whole case had stopped working. It took me a while to notice, that when I remove this HDD, which is the subject here, the case inclusive the other HDD started up again. The removed HDD though just did not start up at all. Bringing it to a single external case only set the power control lights of this case to flickering - thus we assumed, that there is an issue with the electronic circuit. Meanwhile, as mentioned before, I got the HDD starting, when I had swapped the PCB from an elder model of the same SAMSUNG HDD HD753LJ ... but I did not get it recognized ..... ... so that's basically the story .. I also enclose an image .. I hope it's good enough - as I only have my mobile around at the moment .... ![]() Thank you for your immediate reply. |

chipmunk wrote: I am trying to recover a similar drive. Date: 2008.02 This one was fried by a bas power supply. Lets keep each other posted? Check the two TVS diodes near the power connector for short circuits. Use a multimeter on the 200 ohms range. Also check the zero ohm resistor. It may have fused open. The faulty diode can be removed, and the resistor can be replaced by a short length of wire, or a 2A picofuse. Just be sure that your PSU is OK, as you will no longer have any protection on the affected supply rail. For continued protection, you can replace the 12V and 5V TVS diodes with an SMBJ12A and SMAJ5.0A, respectively, from Farnell, Mouser, Digikey. Good luck. |

MY two drives 2008,03 and 2009,07 have ever so different boards and dont work if i swap them! It has different firmware and thinks my 750GB drive is a 1T and cant read the data. I cannot flash these firmwares. the good board is BF-00185A R00 REV 4(2009,07) the bad board and the one i need is BF-00206B R00 REV 5(2008,03) Maybe its this REV thing that is different and i assume it stands for reversion |

It's "revision". :-) If you have a digital multimeter, there are a few simple measurements you can make. Your replacement PCB will be very useful for comparison. A clearer photo would help also. |

Hello mo2this, I'm having a problem with a 2007.12 HD753LJ disk, as you have, and I'm hoping that you still have this 2007.12 disk that you mentioned on you post; "by accident I had the same HDD, but with another production date 2007.12 ". can you please tell me if you still have this disk? I'm driving crazy trying to recover some data for my HD753LJ... Thank you. |
