Hello to all.

In case somebody can help me out here, my dead hdd parameters are as follows:

WD, wd5000aaks-00a7b0, caviar se 16, sata, hhnnnt2mhb, 500gb, 2060-701537-003 rev A, manufactured 20 march 2008.

Hurricane Earl blew by Puerto Rico about three weeks ago and a power failure, actually a couple of them, killed my mobo, cpu, p/s and... most regrettably, my hd.
Yes, I had a backup... but, ashamed to acknowledge it, on a second partition on the same hd. It just does not spin at all, no sound, no hummmm, no nothing. Just plain dead. Pretty sure electronics is fried.

Anyhow, since I believe in miracles...

thanks to all in advance, Juan.

Can you upload a detailed photo of the component side of the PCB?

For anybody who might be interested or in the same situation, I want to share my experience leading to my recovering the data.

Hddmania contacted me and offered to help me. From the very start, they (I assume several people) were fast in answering all my questions, very informative, proactive and professional. This won me over. Besides, the price they quoted was also at least half of the minimum from other companies. I took the risk and... it really paid off. You know, we all say that when something is 'too good to be true', it probably is; when, in this case, they are *that* good. If you offered me a million bucks to say something bad about these people, I would just not know what to say. I will not continue in case I sound like advertising, but, really, should you be in this situation, do consider them.
