Hopefully someone will help me, manufactors don't want to know about it. Living in Ireland but bought Lacie hard drive in New York under a year ago. Anyway smoke and burning smell coming from circuit board on the hard drive. now I cannot access my hard drive. Can a replacement circuit board or repair. Hitachi 0A38016BA31200C97 P/N 0A38016 Capacity 1TB LBA 1.953.525.168 Sectors S/N MS0W12HK MLC BA3120 CHS 16383/16/63 Model HDT721010SLA360 Sata 3.0 gb/s RPM 7200RPM As you can guess, I'm not a techie.. If you can ship it to UK, I can help with this. It's not a straightforward PCB swap, these drives have unique NVRAM info on them which needs to be transferred. PM me if interested. |

If you upload a detailed photo, one of us may be able to help you repair your board. Many times the problem is only a shorted diode, in which case it can simply be removed. Check the components in this photo clip: http://www.users.on.net/~fzabkar/HDD/HD ... 60_TVS.jpg The NVRAM information is stored in two ICs at locations U5 and U7. If you need to replace your board, your local TV/AV repair shop should be able to transfer these chips for you. |
