wanted: parts for Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 8

January 12th, 2011, 20:36

I'm going to try and swap logic boards on a maxtor diamondmax plus 8 that died. My friend needs the data off it, so I need to swap some parts.

Can you tell us the fault symptom?

If this is your board ...

... then I believe you will need to move the 8-pin ST25P10V6 (= ST Microelectronics M25P10-V6) flash memory chip, or its contents, from patient to donor.

M25P10V6, M25P10VP, ST Microelectronics, 1 Mbit (128 Kbit x 8) serial flash memory:

Just to make sure, the larger pin says "Ardent C9-C1" and the smaller (rectangular) says "hynnix 303A" on it. Is this the correct pcb for my hard drive?

I'm not a data recovery professional, so I can't answer your question.

However, the hynix part is an SDRAM. The "303" may be a YWW (Year / Week) date code. The actual part number begins with "HY". In any case you don't need to worry about the SDRAM as long as it has the correct capacity.
