Hi,
Why you think that you need a new PCB?
PCB do not appear to be damaged...

The hdd was in an USB rack and somebody pulled the cable off. Since that the hdd spins up, but is not detected by the controler.

Almost certainly NOT a PCB fault if the drive spins up and sounds normal (i.e. does not spin down again)

Any other ideas to fix the problem, than change the PCB?

Hi

Did you already check the diodes?
Is the first thing to do.

I didn't, but i will if you thing, that is necessary. Is it enough to check D3 and the one near R64, or must i check all?

Is better checking all.

If you see that they are all ok you can see if when you connect the drive to power cable the main chip gets really hot..

If the controller gets really hot he can be damaged.

First I checked all diodes, they are ok.
Then i connected only the PCB to power, the mainchip was getting hot. But i needs 3-4 Minutes, till it was to hot to touch.
What do you think?

Surely usual SadleG6 problem (not with PCB) , and enclosure probably some WD MyBook with encryption. :)
Often issue in present time.

Do I understand you correctly, you think that the HDD is encrypted? If so, I can tell you that it is not. But you are right, it was in a My Book Case.

What does SadleG6 meen?

YOU might not have encrypted it, but the MyBook enclosures DO usually encrypt them unbeknown to the user.

SadleG6 is the factory name for this family of drives, and there are known issues with them.

But even if it encrypt itself, shouldn't it detected by the Bios?

If i connect the HDD before bootup, the PC's freezes at SATA Setup and no drive gets detected.

Yes it should if the drive it not faulty, but yours clearly is.

This drive needs pro assistance to work with the (probable) firmware problem with it.
