Sorry, but I think you're not allowed to sell your ACE equipment. Have you asked them?

Mhh, that in itself is valuable.

If the ace tools were transferrable then I would buy them, but sadly I believe they are worthless as you would not able to activate them :-(

What happens if you were to buy the business who owns the tools, close the location and move all the operations to your location?

I don't know about you guys.....but all my contracts are in my personal name, even though the tools were bought by the company.....as director of my company, the contracts are actually with me..... so even if I sell my business (which I'm not) the tools are not transferable... For this very reason I believe ACE do not make out contracts to a Company alone, but to a named representative (CEO / Director / President) of that company... I'd be interested to hear if your contracts are made out that way....

They are. It must be in a person's name as far as I know as well.

That cant be legal? If its a limited company, even if you are a director you are just really an employee. I would love to hear some confirmation on this.

that would mean that each and every one of us who has purchased something from them and reclaimed the vat, put it through company books etc has committed one more more offenses....

If you read the contracts you'll find out that ACE does NOT sell you the tools. They just allow you to use them, for a fee.

I don't understand why they think it is better to have their tools sitting in a cupboard when the owner decides to not do DR anymore - with no possibility of any more revenue from that client, than to allow someone else to use them and maybe upgrade or buy more because they used it and liked it - thus making more revenue.

What am I missing here?

My contract states that the tools MUST be destroyed if we no longer use them...............

But if you think about it....there's a very obvious logic to this that benefits EVERYBODY that runs a serious DR business....... (and ACE as well)...

I can see ACE would make money by selling a new kit. I don't see how it benefits other DR Businesses as the count of competition DR businesses is the same, just a different name on the title.

A better idea for ACE would be to have it more obvious the tools are not yours, they are licenced and to be returned at the end of the contract. They have no proof of any destroying if, say you close your business, and any business ending their contract are more than likely less likely to destroy the tools. I would think I would find it hard to destroy a tool like that just because of a contract!

I guess I can't see the mindset of making something so customer unfriendly.

One possible thing I thought of is that maybe ACE want to vet each customer and choose carefully who they sell to, to stop a potential pirate of their tools getting them. This could be easier if customers were allowed to on-sell their tools without ACE having a say.

That said, they have the right to do as they like and we have the right to agree or choose other tools and/or a way around anything that is restricting us.. contractually proper or not.

The loser is the guy selling his business, as being able to sell the tools would be a huge plus for the sale.

That's the beauty of forums like this - We can all have a discussion and thrash out a topic, and ACE can get a great insight to how their customers think, and interact if they choose.

Coz, too much investments on those tools in addition he never responds

He might have sold them already. He could be another user that joins, gets what he wants and is never seen (under that nick) again.

I have seen quite a few people, especially on the SD forum, asking for the extra forum access that say they have bought a huge suite of tools. I always wonder how they can outlay so much. I guess if you have a business plan and it is in DR then the good tools are a requirement, and if your credit is ok then not so hard to get bank loans, or maybe an existing IT business that is ok financially can outlay without it being a huge deal..

In case ACE lab will find out about this, they can block these DR cards for future upgrades.
I'm talking about the case when he will sell his equipment along with the computers.
