I have the following faulty drives available; all drives appear to have mechanical faults & aren't recognized. They came as part of a job lot from one of my suppliers; their history is unknown but from looking at them I'm more or less certain that none of them have been opened. All drives have USB pcb's, are missing their enclosures and aren't in warranty:

Because of the arrangements that I have with my suppliers I sometimes end up with a few faulty drives as part of a job lot; At the moment I'm selling them as scrap but I'm trying to avoid this. Baring this in mind, if I find a buyer and we're both happy with the transaction, there's potential for a more long-term arrangement if you would like.

Shouldn't that read as "You would have to tell me (craig6928) ..."

You don't know what criteria any and every potential customer has.

As the chap says, he would rather not see them just scrapped or landfilled.
I can see a use for them directly ...

My worry would be for the original provider not knowing what data he is inadvertently passing on if these are previously used RMAs.

yes the DATA on the disks is a very worrying thing, Do you want to be involved in a shitstorm because a drive you sold had one of your customers passwords on it and was then recovered...

i wish i had the balls to write back to establishments that have had their drives "recycled" by employees via ebay as "broken: spares or repair".

Now there would be a shitstorm worthy of a golf umbrella!

BTW if you wonder if people buy drives for the express purpose of recovering data, yes. I have bought a stack of CF Cards, Microdrives and S/H flash for this exact reason. There was a legit reason for it as study, but could just as easily been for evil. Waste of time though because the CF Cards and Microdrive was as clean as my Bank Account on Bill Day. Someone knew how to wipe.
