Hi I have an old connor CFS1275A hard drive that has stopped working it turns on and makes a musical sound and then goes silent and starts again I was hoping if some one could help me get my data back without sending my drive to a specialist I want to do it myself Also if anyone has a spare PCB for this board that they could spare I would appreciate it very much as well If there is anything I can do without replacing the PCB just to spin up and get my data off would be great Please help Thanks people |

I have tried the pros and I have done some hard drive recovery my self I think there is something wrong on the pcb BUT i cannot find anyone who has a spare pcb if anyone has a spare pcb that they could send to me or advise if there is there anything i could do just to get the drive working i read that some hard drives on the PCB if you remove a certain component you can start the drive up, is there anything i can do on this particular drive The drive was working fine and then suddenly happened no drops, knocks or anything so thinking could be something simple |

tried the professionals will not touch as the hard drive is very old will this work for the ttl http://www.amazon.co.uk/PL-2303HX-PL-23 ... B00AVRIDB0 can you give more directions on the ttl diagnostics please |

would you or anyone on the forum have a spare PCB for this hard drive please i just powered the hard drive and it spins up and then went quiet and spins again what does this mean i really need to get access to the data on the drive please |

I can feel it trying to spin up but even if i get a pcb that is not the same rom cant this get transferred could you help me out with a pcb please |

Inconsistent story.  First of all it doesn't spin up (just beeps) and now it does spin up but then spin down? Which is it? 99.9% NOT a PCB issue, given that it spins up then spins down again. As splidit implies, NOT a DIY project. Especially if you're expecting it totally free

it was making musical sounds when turned on but then randomly i turned it on and spins i dont trust my data with anyone other than myself i have the tools and kit to carry out the work myself but was hoping if some one has a spare drive/pcb its an old drive so i do not imagine people are using them to run windows 3.1 is there any tests i can do on the pcb or are there any components i can replace or take out to fire the drive up |

i am more than sure it is a pcb problem it is an old drive and i am sure that some one will have one for free |

Old drives have their own peculiar problems. Pretty certain the problem is internal rather than external! Also now it appears to spin when before it didn't has probably made a recovery more complicated and of course more expensive. |

its an old drive that if anyone has such a one is not probably using so if there is any kind soul that has one and would be willing to give for free i will appreciate it please willing to return the kindness in any way i can |

i can do a head swap myself if required but just need a donor drive or pcb if it works by replacing the pcb then it will be better |

could you use ttl to diagnose i turned on the drive just now and i can hear the head move and the platters move but then goes quite and does it again so there is not musical sound no more |
