USB to SATA probe PCB: FDD UTS PC-3000 series adapter , currently has the following 7 models:
used for data recovery and electronic forensics of Western Digital USB HDD!
For WD USB HDD data security, we recommend using FDD UTS PC-3000 series adapter

Part of the USB corresponding /TYPE-C /SATA reference table:
1.   65 800067-USB PCB 3.0  / 810003- TYPC PCB /SATA PCB    800065
2.   66 800069-USB PCB 3.0  /                        /SATA PCB    800066
3.   22 800041-USB PCB 3.0  / 810012-TYPC PCB  /SATA PCB     800022
4.   30 810035-USB PCB 3.0  / 810033-TYPC PCB  /SATA PCB     810030

This PCB-FHDD UTS has its advantages:
No need to solder wires for Original PCB of patient HDD , But data can  read , This method will not damage the original PCB and just remove 4 capacitors that will improve data security, The new test point PCB of HDD is small in size, not easy to Welding wires, The USB PCB of patient HDD to Soldering wires with new young engineers is difficult and has a very high risk of easily damaging the PCB!!!
FHDD UTS itself is not a decryption board, it can be combined with a USB decryption board to form a SATA decryption board.

Can you leave the capacitors in place if you can ensure that the USB-SATA bridge is "quiet"? For example, if you were to short the crystal for the bridge IC, would this disable the bridge and prevent it from interfering with SATA communications?

yes,the crystal oscillator will interfere with SATA communication.

 ,
He is Chinese ,He did not understand what you said ,Technically if crystal is dead usb chip is not doing anythng ,But i will stlil remove capacitors as it isolates the chip connections and provides a stable connection

Thank you.I mean that you can leave the capacitors and just to unsolder the crystal oscillator. Some of the PCB just need to unsolder crystal oscillator.Actually 800069 no need to desolder anything. And the actual situation is also related to the hard disk itself.Different drive different needs.
