I am interested in buying an adapter as below, can't find one to buy. USB Micro B to Sata with solderable Sata cables for converting from USB to Sata. Apparently there is a version that has spider arms instead of solderable cables. I am interested in both versions. I am in Sweden! |

There's no such adapter because it's currently simply pointless. Buy a regular one, and if you absolutely must have a micro USB 2.0, swap the connector.

I can't say I understand your goal, but, if you can find one of these floating around maybe it could help? Though it's as if they've sanitized the internet of not only these devices but the images of them (except for the obnoxious idiots at pinterest) along with an old HDDguru thread with a mediocre (steep angle) image I've also uploaded Anyway, I wish you luck in finding your solution. It was just a thought that crossed my mind for some reason someone came up with something new. I now know with a little more knowledge that this does not solve any problems! BUT there was a clip on youtube where a recovery company had an adapter that they pressed directly into the disk USB micro B connector probably to provide power, then they soldered wires from the adapter to the SATA (for data) solder points on the PCB board. That is, USB to SATA on e.g. WD Passport disks.

If your goal was to CONVERT the protocol from USB to SATA, then no. The SATA data line must be connected using wires. This is to bypass the USB bridge built into the drive's PCB. These adapters simply simplify the power connection. |

But I think bypassing the chip poses a problem: IIRC, you'll then need another PCB to decrypt it. |
