Hi!

I have a WD5000KS drive with a dead firmware ROM. So i need a matching drive for spare parts to possibly recover my data. I got this info from HDD recover specialist.

My drive specs.
Product of Thailand
WD5000KS-00MNB0
Date: 28 OCT 2006 (exact date is not needed but near)
DCM: HCACAJAHB

So anyone having a drive with these specs please respond.

I did send my drive to HDD recover specialist. They tried but were not able to get the drive to function properly. They have also tools for updating/reading ROM chips and my ROM chip was total dead, no data
could be read from it...

And they instructed me to find a compatible drive. As the only solution would be the ROM change (if a match is found).

The drive would not even try to start on my motherboard internal SATA, so its very believable that ROM/Firmware is corrupted. With HighPoint SATA controller it tries to spin but stops after couple of silent clicks without mounting.

Finland.. The recovery company has good reputation for ten years. What I discussed with them sounds very reasonable.

Of course other opinions are welcome too.
