Hi,

Better do a proper diagnosis before buying a board.
Try to put the terminal-output of the board here. If you dont know how to do, look in other postings on hddguru. It's all explained there.

Thanks for the advice. I'll read a bit more, then post the terminal output here.

Am I correct that to post the terminal output, I need to build this,

then connect it to the correct pins on the hdd,
and post the information as it appears in a HyperTerminal window?

I'll throw it together this afternoon. If I wasn't so miserable about having lost my data, I'd say this is turning out to be alot of fun! Thanks for all the help.
