Hey!
I broke this hard drive, and my friend who's quite the computer guru reffered to this forum as a last resort to save the data on it. Either you can read my story, or you might scroll down and see what I'm in need of.
This is my story. I was at my girl friend's house fixing her/her parent's computer. They had been experiencing a lot of weird toubles with their computer lately. I checked the computer and decided to formate their hard drive, just blow it out and install a new clean windows on it. So I back up all their information, i.e. personal photos, dokuments, music, movies etc, on this portable hard drive. Everything is going just fine I back the files up, reinstall their windows and so on. While I wait for windows I lay back with my laptop looking at some movie. The installaion is awfully slow so I decide to bring the laptop down to the kitchen and get some food. After two sandwiches and some juice I go back up again to configure windows. Everything's still going smooth! Next I grab the portable hard drive and plug in the USB and the power cord. There is a small strange sound and the power diode goes out. I unplug the hard drive and there is this distinct smell of burned electronics. I'm like "...fuck", I then realize that I'd connected the computers power supply to the hard drive. Hereafter the hard drive have been broken, I've tried to plug it dirctly into the computers SATA slot. But it still doesn't work so I guess that it is the "operating circuit" that's broken, not the power supply. I'm really angry with seagate to have produced a so fragile hard drive. I mean, it got like 15 volts instead of 12 or so, and it didn't even have a safety capacitor or a fuse of a sort...
So I wish to fix the hard drive for my girl friend, she's really mad at me

. It's her hard drive and she got a lot of files there that she wants, e.g. this novel that she wrote...
SUMMURY OF MY PROBLEM: I connected a portable hard drive to a laptops power supply and it has been broke since. I tried to connect the hard drive directly to my computers SATA power supply but it didn't do any good. So I guess I need a new pcb board or what ever they're called.
I got those numbers from the hard drive:
S/N: 9QF08KA1
ST3320820AS
P/N: 9BJ13G-065
Firmware: 3: AAD
Date code: 07155
I'll try to get a piture on it too!
Thanks in advance you guys!
