AMA: MultiDrive - free app to clone, backup, erase drives

vitaliy, tried several 2TB USB sticks, SANDISK EXTREME PRO, and also an SSK 2TB, which actually is a tiny SSD in the form of a stick (see attached pic) - that one worked once (!) only.

cooling: first tried a fan - worked down to constantly 65C, then an icepack in a woolen glove - worked well - constant 38C.

i am not giving up ...

I see why this is needed for tech-savvy users like you and me. And it's certainly the vector of the development in the future. However, for the majority of the current user base, MultiDrive is lovable because it helps them handle basic tasks without details and in the simplest possible way.

Hey, that's why they supported the tool on Product Hunt! It's extremely hard to win there.

MultiDrive 1.3 is here!
This release ships with a Windows PE boot image that automatically launches MultiDrive 1.3 upon booting.

What else is new:
- Format after Erase - new option to format the drive once erasing is complete
- Smarter write error recovery
- Better EFI and Recovery volume display
- Cleaner date format: dates now show as "Oct 31" instead of "25-10-31"

Here's a quick update on the latest MultiDrive releases: Versions 1.4 and 1.5.

1.4

- Added ZSTD backup/restore support, about 4–5× faster than ZIP in our tests
- Support for password-protected network folders has been added.
- Added an option to show drive serial numbers, useful when working with multiple identical drives

1.5

- Added automatic PC shutdown after all tasks complete
- Improved WinPE image with MultiDrive, with better capability of NVMe detection on some systems
- Significantly improved ZSTD backup speed to network shares, especially sustained speed
- Fixed several performance issues affecting Erase, Clone and Restore
- A number of CLI, WinPE and UI fixes
