Suspicous connections from HD Doctor for Seagate

Maybe I'm a little paranoid, but I find it strange that some of the components of the software from SalvationData are detected as malware by some virus scanners.

Anyway, I decided to run "netstat -b 1" whilst running the software to see if it was making any connections, and it wasn't I believe until I selected the "About" tab.

Some of these look suspicious

box675.bluehost.com resolves to the same IP address as http://www.salvationdata.com so that is OK, but some of the other connections such as hn.kd.smx.adsl is of concern. Has anyone conducted a proper security analysis of the software?

Agree with you here. got the same with my WD/Seagate both or i can say all SD tools has this problem

but @ the end of the day you are fixing those hdd there is no important data inside which matters i think except resources.

talk back with salvation data they want to know what type of drive your working on etc

a lot of data recovery tools have talk back built into it

to improve services

just block it from connecting or infact dont have a pc system connecting to the net

Disconnect from net or put behind properly configured HW FIREWALL the DR devices. Simple.
