I have a WD5000KS-00MNB0 that I have a good working donor that I have performed a hot swap with the patient drive. The drive is ready but all I see are 666 in the sector view for all sectors I have looked at. I did backup all the modules from the patient and that went fine however when I went into scan the modules I selected key modules most of them show ok however a 54 of them show Head 1 or 0 or both Read Succeed Length Error Checksum error not all of them have the checksum error. I don't think the repair will work on the modules that have errors on both heads. I am looking for suggestions to move this forward.

What are the symptoms of the original drive? If it clicks on startup (what these usually do) then problem is physical

DRC yes 3 clicks each time. I did same procedure on another WD same type and recovered data from it. SD has a pdf out there on it. I don't deny it could turn out to be a physical problem just looking for any feedback from other SD WD Doctor user experiences.

how did you perform hotswap? If you are using donor translator will be very hard to read patient LBAs...
why hotswap? could you read the module map without hotswap? how is detected the drive without hotswap?
Give us more info to get help.
Bye
Luca

"irs"]how did you perform hotswap?
Connect good donor loaded the drive in HDD Doctor, swap the pcb to the patient drive ,download the modules for Plist Glist move pcb back to Donor upload P G lists regenerate the translator move pcb back to patient

If you are using donor translator will be very hard to read patient LBAs... why hotswap?
Based on specific WD model / failure and SD recommendations

could you read the module map without hotswap? No But with hotswap I was able to download save all modules from Patient. The second time I did not get the module errors per my first post all modules tested ok

how is detected the drive without hotswap? Wont come ready just clicks 3 times

Give us more info to get help.
Bye
