Drives presented for recovery sometimes have some heads or surfaces damaged (physical damage). The problem is severe enough for the drive to stop working in its native system. However, with the latest upgraded Data Compass DCEXP utility, it is possible now (before installation of MHA replacement) to create a copy of data using the remaining good surfaces or drive heads; small files can even be recovered directly.
This new feature, along with "Disable HDD Preload" and "Disable SMART/Sector Reallocation" will be available in the coming upgrade for Data Compass 4.6 which is now being involved in a beta test.
Please also check the

For clients who already have Data Compass, please go to our forum to download the beta version or contact me directly to get the program.

I see from the picture that the current version of Data Compass Explorer is version 20090203?
I guess all the previous 20090202 versions were buggy!

Hey man, they clone all what they can.
What are you talking about?
Who will be ashamed?
Salvation? Ha-ha...it's impossible!
By the way, Data Extractor support this option several years already.
