I have a HDD with the same FW. Is there really a need for me to update the Firmware?

If so, which one of the ones you've linked am I to update and how?

@ crashnburn
I apologize if misinterpreting, but it seems like you do not understand how firmware works.

If your drive is no longer working, post message in the recovery forum.

I do understand how firmware works.

I've updated my Motherboard Firmware (to the latest & greatest) and for other devices.

Also, one of my Seagate HDDs supposedly had a widely known bug so it was recommneded to update the Firmware on that.

My question here is, does this particular HDD of mine (which is working perfectly fine so far) need to be updated?
- To a factory firmware by WD (if so, how & where do I find it..cause I couldnt find any on their Support/ Downloads sections)
- Custom Firmware outlined here..

Note: are you saying this forum is only creating firmware for where HDDs have failed or issues beyond the scope of manufacturer? which is why the current HDD does not need this firmware??
OR
Is the custom/ modded firmware better than the factory one?

The concepts of HDD firmware and Flashing a motherboard are so very different.

Is your HDD working? if so then do not try to fix it. If its not working then you should post about it in in the recovery forum as suggested by labtech.

Ok. 2 drives just died on me. What can I do to possibly get help here on recovering them?
