Edison,

Can't find my notes on the problem. I believe I was communicating with Harvey at the time, which was over a year ago. I don't use my Salvation tools anymore, so I don't really have any motivation to duplicate the work I already did and sent to your tech department to fix a programming error in your tool. If they have not already fixed it, you should ask your engineering team to examine the ROM write feature for Seagate Mercury drives. Try writing a few and see what happens.

Hello DRC,

Thanks a lot for your kind reply. I will definitely do that and for the Seagate Doctor ROM write, I just checked the user manual, it has already been included in the Seagate doctor. Please check the following screenshot:

Image

Over a year ago, you may use seagate doctor and it may not solve your problem about the Seagate Mercury drives' ROM write but Dear friend, SalvationDATA has improved a lot for both services and tools in recent years, I believe you want to ask the tools to pay for themselves and pay back your business and I trust they will.

You can contact me for any question or support and I will do my best! Your satisfaction is my aim!

Thank you, my friend, Do you allow me to light your confidence? I am looking forward to your cooperation and help!

No, I understand that the function is present in the software. The problem is that it doesn't work (or didn't). It would corrupt the ROM when uploading, and after that the drive would be stuck in F> mode.

I think SD should outsource all R&D to you, maybe then we can all make some use of the SD toys ... sorry, tools

Well, it has been one tested fixed solution for Seagate doctor and in the coming ST V5.0, you can test it with the new solutions to Seagate K11 and K12 drives about the firmware R/W.

Hi thatdellguy, I don't think you wish to be squashed by a wall if you always expect it to fall.

By the way, Flash doctor V4.0 is available to download in SD official forum.

So this means it was fixed?

SD's version of forum Spam.

Are we speaking the same language?

There was other staff of SD, trying to support the customers, but at
the end gave up because that was not supported internally in SD.
Thats sad - isnt it?

After a long time watching this - you might understand that one only
accepts whats done / fixed - and not whats promised or anounced to
happen ... (somewhen) - by a (new) SD employee (even with the
best intentions).

Dear Customers, this is one part of forum for support on SalvationDATA equipment but not SD official forum, what I can tell customers here are about our continuing upgrades and new solutions and you can learn about it in time and fix your cases.

Everyone has his own choice and my choice is to support SD customers forever only if I am in SalvationDATA.

Hi Edison,

My engineers have some questions and suggestions about their experience with your tools:

1, They recently have some new Hitachi 7250 series drives and your Hitachi doctor doesn't support, can you add it?

2nd, They have tested your DC2011 and they said it's a great improvement to look more professional and more stably working but still with some minor problems: the speed delivery from faulty drives and when will you upgrade from USB2.0 to 3.0? Is this possible?

3rd, For your DCK, is it possible to add E01 support as I have seen many other duplicators are adding this feature, that will be great for our work.

Hi HddSoEasy,

Thanks a lot for your great feedback.

>Please go to SD official forum, >Latest Version of Software>HD Doctor Suite>HD Doctor for Hitachi>Ver.4.2, with this version, we have added the new 7250 series;

>For DC2011 USB2.0 upgrade to USB3.0, I am sorry because this can not be made right now and that needs DC hardware upgrade to support the new algorism, so far, we just customers to solve this by DC unlimited version, you can PM me or mail me to learn more;

>For DCK, we are upgrading it to support data-only area image and wipe and also the ability to handle faulty drives and after that we can consider the E01 support and other supports.

Best regards
Edison

My comment is in defense of Salvation Data tools. I am a Salvation Data client. I currently own the HPE Pro , File Extractor and the HD Doctor Suite. In my opinion, after working with the tools for a year or so, they offer the most bang for the buck for a small part time data recovery business like mine. The tools may not be the best on the market, but they do offer the best value for the money. It just depends what type of data recovery business you are running. If you are trying to run a big operation and recover every hard drive that is brought into your service, then you need the best tools money can buy like the PC-3000 for $10,000 a copy plus the software updates for an additonal $1,500 -$2000 a year. Expensive and difficult to use recovery tools like the PC-3000 are not an option for a small data recovery business like mine. I feel Salvation Data Recovery Tools offer the best value for small data recovery services that are trying to recover maybe 80% of the common failures and not trying to handle the last 5% or 10% of difficult problems. With a small data recovery operation on a limited equipment budget, you need to pick your battles and not try to recover every single drive brought into your service. The main weakness I have found with their tools is the documentation. Unfortunately, it is translated from Chinese and is poorly written in some cases. If the manuals could be improved, I feel the tools would be a lot more effective. Just my opinion.

The "issue" of a bad (translated) manual exists only for those, who
are brand new to DR. I.e. users who dont want to spend their bucks
for "expensive" DR, those who want to play a little bit - and those
who want to enter that biz.

For those users with DR knowledge and terminology, these tools
shouldnt be any problem.

When SD does not offer better manuals, they can keep the prices
low for their tools and will continue to attract just those customers
going for "cheap" prices.

But even with the best afterservice - SD will never be able to fullfill
the expectaitions (the transport of DR knowledge) of those
customers. The arguing will continue.

For those who want to have a deeper knowledge of i.e. tools from
the hd doctors, there exists 3rd party "guides", easily affordable if
one is in the DR biz. So, infact, a bad SD manual is no "issue" at all.
