I am curious if these are common issues for this module.
SD WD Program Version 2008-9-1
I currently have a couple hundred 2.5" WDXXXXBEVS-00LAT0 I am loading them using "ROYL"
[*]Every single ROYL 2.5" drive i connect loads with the status ERROR, I can still Backup and Update FW.
[*]Reset Smart doesnt do anything.I did a Backup FW before and After and compared the modules in HEX and there were NO differences..
[*]"Clear G-List" fails on all of them...
[*]HDD Zerofill fails on all of them...
[*]SA Defect Scan: The SA L-Format is missing... I have the newest vesion direct from SD.
A pointer in the right direction would be great, I already asked SD.. and they didnt really answer my question.. and it takes 24 hours for them to respond as they are in CHINA and i am in the US...
Thanks Alot.

Yes I think this is typical.

Well at least with the G List I was able to just open the module in the hex editor and replace the data section (skipping the header) with zeros... and now I have a empty G List...

Nice! and now that the G List is MANUALLY zeroed out, I can actually get the Zero Fill to work... COOL!
wonder what else works now... haha

Ha, good discovery. Tell SD about it and they might fix it in six months.

I am trying to now figure a manual way of resetting the SMART... I wish i had a nice clean SMART module set with less than 10 of POHs...
I was trying to figure out the structure of the SMART Attributes... mod 21 and 22 seem to be mirros of each other and
within 21 and 22
Offset 00 Location C-F changes everytime I read the firmware after a power cycle. Seems to be incrementing.
I cant seem to locate where the actual POH and such are stored.

As someone who used to use Salvation products and moved to PC3K I feel your pain and it is definitely an uphill battle the whole way. If you can get together the funds for a PC3K I would REALLY recommend it. It will make your life soooo much easier.

I am trying to come up with a workaround for these issues I am having with the SD WD Module.
Now because Clear G-List, Clear P-List doesnt work and HDD Zerofill doesnt work for me relaibly I need to try to come up with another way...
People who work on Royl: what is the working method? the manual says one thing, support says another...
Accurate Scan -> Defects to P-List ->Translator Regeneration -> HDD Zero Fill or Internal L-Format?
Accurate Scan -> Defects to P-List ->Translator Regeneration or Internal L-Format -> HDD ZERO FILL?
Accurate Scan -> Defects to P-List ->Translator Regeneration or Internal L-Format -> MHDD ERASE?
I checked the Defect list before the translator regen and it doesnt seem to have any additions...
I manually added a Track that has several bad sectors in it to the PList module 33 I can see it in the defect list now.. but it seems that those sectors are still showing up in MHDD, what am i missing here... does anyone have the ROYL 2.5" drives working for these functions?
PM if you can...
