Looking for firmware for Western Digital WD4000AAKS-00YGA0. PCB failure on the drive. I have in stock a WD5000AAKS-00YGA0 with matching PCB numbers, but it is not a good enough match to act as a donor. I know on older WD Silver II I could get away with using different capacity PCBs and then altering the head map. Has anyone had any luck doing something similar on more modern ROYL series drives? Sean , they Have Version 3.6 Out Have You Tried This In That Version Also ,Its Better To Have a Backup Of The Rom in That Case ,i Am Soon Planning a tutorial Of Using rom Backups with a External ISP Programmer On HDDGURU With Adapters To Help Some New People |

Hi there, just been working on it. Used a matching WD5000AAKS PCB and altered the head map from Heads 2,3,4,5 to use heads 0,1,2,3 for the WD4000AAKS and it worked a treat. All the best, John |
