Post subject:  General data retrieval techniques advice using data compass

I have purchased a data compass machine from salvationdata and I am having problems finding proper instructions for it. Can anyone tell me a few techniques for recovering drivers with bad sectors or corrupted data? Once I image the drive to another drive what steps should I take from there? Any kind of help would be greatly appreciated.

If your a DC owner then the SD forum or remote tech support would be your best bet.

I recently purchased a Data Compass Standard. Before that I owned the File Extractor. I my opinion the stength of the Data Compass and File Extractor is the abilty to extract the important data without creating an image of the drive. This can be a big asset to extract the most important data first before attempting to image the entire drive, especially with a failing drive with bad sectors. Since the device is USB2 based, it will take forever to image a 500GB or larger drive. The device is best used for extracting selective data and not imaging drives due to the USB2 bottleneck. Salvation Data is supposed to be developing a USB3 version of the Data Compass that will have the ability to image larger drives much faster than the current USB2 version.
