SeaGate ST317221A -No action after power up.

Hello
I have a problem with the SeaGate HDD:
A friend asked me to try to recover the files from this hdd.
That's what I did so far:
I have connected the drive to the spare PC, and booted livecd linux to see is there anything on the drive. I saw a Windows install that looked almost freshly done, but beside that nothing of interest. Then I've connected the HDD to my main PC (Windows Installed) as a second drive, and run (From a primary drive) a program called "Recuva". It detected lots of deleted files, many intact. I've had no free eniugh space to copy them. So I left it running idle. After half an hour later my main PC freezed for well 20 seconds? PC unfreezed, Drive vanished from system, it stopped spinning. Also first connection to the spare PC was made wrong. I've connected the IDE cable rotated 180*. Later I've corrected that and drive worked until that freeze.
There is no short circuit on main power socket.
