To be fair, all you actually said initially was "All request will be given a manual if a valid email address is supplied"
later clarified to be a comany email address
It never initially said you need to be a DR company

I'll love a copy of the manual, just for background info
as I hear it is an EXCELLENT piece of work
even though most of it wouldn't be very useful as I dont have the SD tools
But I' just a normal techie guy who happens to be interested in DR
(I do logical fixes for friends and collegues, and a bit of playing with mhdd and Victoria etc. Would like to learn more about SA and firmware etc. Dont do physical repairs (other than looking inside scrap drives)

But its your work and its up to you how you publish it

If you feeling generous you could just post in in the file section here and be famous!

If you are feeling generous and would like this book so badly I do not see why you can not pay for it. The book was written for this tool. Here many people own this tool. They have had to work on it for a living. Some it took a long time to figure out this tool due to the bad manuals supplied with it. I too had a very hard time with the original manual on this tool. After months and months of working and testing I figured out this tool and wrote this book. Now to be fair to all who work in DR it is not normal or even possible that I just give this book to you or other like you for free. There is a lot of information in this book to help people in this field who work to repair drives for their clients. Now if I just hand this out to you becasue of this post that is not fair to other or even to me. I feel that my time is of value and if you would like it so badly then it will cost you to receive it. It cost all people to get this book who do not own this tool.

This has nothing to do for money or reputation. This had to do with a conflict between me and SD which has been resolved now. The handing out of the manual was to stop someone from using my work and not living up to a contract. Now the conflict is resolved, I hold all copyright to this book and if you want it you know where and how to find it.

BTW - all manuals were handed out to legal owners of this tool for free and no money was collected for them at all. The only time anyone was ask to pay was when they did not own this tool. They all chose not to purchase this book.

Hi,

Ann has kindly provided this manual for those who have the Maxtor doctor. Check on Salvation forum if you have access.

Yes the Maxtor manual is still free. I no longer take orders for it and if you have this tool you can find it on SD forum under manual section of Maxtor. Please download it there. Do not be fooled SD put their name on this one but look in foot notes you will see it is my manual and copyrighted by me. They just used their name on the cover pages and changed mine. No big deal on this it is still the manual I gave out for free on request. But now it is easier if you go direct to SD and download it yourself.

Thanks everyone

I suggest to have 2 version
a full version specific to SD must be purchased -- ideal for dr professionals
a lite version having basic maxtor engineering design and working which could benefit all other - at less cost

Hi I am so sorry this is a little bizar. What do you not understand the manual is free. If you own the tools for SD HD DR Maxtor then you can take this manual for free. Sorry I do not see to make a light manual to benefit others as you say becasue it is free to begin with. Only if you own this tool.

When poehere sells user manual, why do you think about that others will resell it or give them to everyone with free ?

Having just registered, I am unable to use PM... 8-(
I tried writing to your email address found on your profile, but that is no longer working. - Maybe I can use PM later, when I have used the Forum a few times...
I bought the HD Doctor for Maxtor a while ago, but gave up on it as the "manual" was too hard to understand.

And so you think the fault is at the manual ?

I am sure that with a better manual, the tool would be of far more use than it has been so far...
