Hello all. ( sorry for some bad English. not main language )
I hope these topics go here.
I read some issues and so on the forum to try to fix my HDD. Just I'm not that much in fixing stuff =(

Month, or so, my neighbor cat sneaked into our house [ as she usually does] and decide that my 2x 3TB Toshiba p300 HDD is not in right place on the small coffee table near my working desk.
Walking under my desk without my knowledge she trashes down the dock station with drives. One drive works fine just 2nd one not so much.
When I power on disk it makes a sound ( i recorded with the phone. https://www.dropbox.com/s/p9ph7j1r68d5q ... 1.m4a?dl=0 )
And that is the only sound it makes all the time.

As far I can get any info on this issue I read that the read/write hand is out of her place from hitting the ground. And HDD is confused or something like that =)
I asked some stores that can try to fix it. Just price is starting from 700€ or so on.
Before I decide to that step I wish to hear some words of wisdom from people with more experience than me.
Is it possible to open by mi self and do something that is not 700€ or is it not so smart idea? Like I say... any words of wisdom is good...

Hi there

I find this funny and sad at the same time. I mean cats are fun and all and sneaking into other houses is also fun but it can lead to disasters like this.

This is typical sound of damaged heads, unfortunately. It also doesn't sound too happy, I would say media damage is possible too.
This DEFINITELY needs to be checked by a good DR professional.
DO NOT power up the drive anymore, it will only make things worse.

This is the exact opposite of smart. It is a very, very, VERY bad idea.

Good luck!!

The cat is fine for me 2. From time to time it catches some random bugs and 2x mice =)
Sneaking in for 6 monts now. I think her name is "Hey kiti kiti kiti"

Guessing the drive goes to fixing soon =(
I'm a bit sad due that bouth drive falled from a max 30 cm table and falled on soft carpet when thney hit ground and got this kind of damage.
(cat is fine. she ran fast )
I might be wrong. just i expected more resiliance from hdd.

The cat is fine with me. It catches the random bug and 2x mice in the last 6 months or so.
Her name, I think is, something like: "Hey kiti kiti kiti"
At least that's how her owner calls after she eats food in my house =\

Too bad for a drive. I expected more resilience from HDD that fell from 30cm +/- and hit the soft/fat carpet.
(the cat is fine. she runs fast)
It will go on repair for sure.
I power it on so far 3-4 times, and now when I record the sound.
DR team told me that hey model of fixind drive is they, after diagnostic, order spare parts like for new drive and if they manage to fix it, they copy all data on completly new drive and all things are returned to me + data on new drive. I guess that is fair from they side.
