Post subject:  A solution for WD/Hitachi Helium-filled hard drives

We are pleased to share that HDDSurgery, in collaboration with HelpDisc, has developed a complete solution for data recovery from Western Digital and Hitachi helium-filled hard drives, including Ultrastar models (HUH series and others) with capacities of 10TB and above. Our solution includes head replacement, helium injection, and head map during the cloning process.

Our lab is equipped to handle:

Head swaps (using the HDDS WDC & HGST 3.5" Helium P7 Ramp Set)
Platter swaps
Firmware-level repair
Controlled helium refilling during the cloning process

Helium drives require a specific approach due to their sealed internal environment. Once opened, helium escapes, and attempting recovery without restoring stable internal conditions can result in further damage or unsuccessful imaging.

We have successfully recovered data from WD/Hitachi helium filled hard drives with:

Complete head failure
Translator corruption
Repeated clicking
Firmware lock or corruption
Drives not detected at all by BIOS

More information is available in our latest blog post:
