hello guys im strugling with an TSOP-48 from a generic flash drive with a cojtroller PS2251-03-Q U01424C
does somebody know how to deal ith this guy? it seems my rusolut version 5.1 doesnt have the XOR for it
i have the ECC but it 0.00%......... but even if i apply it i get the "!" mark ... i guess is crypted data???

Hello,

do you see any data-looking areas if you scroll through the dump? 1.png shows an almost erased area...

those controllers have a wide range of different schemes, pretty ugly. you might have a good chance uploading dump to someone with FE

Frankly speaking, such inquiries are ineffective. You should provide essential information:6-byte ID、controller and flash markings、the number of CE in the chip、the parameter configuration of the chip you are using、the code structure、 XOR signatures, and provide a complete dump or several blocks for analysis.

And whatever it is, it's not scrambled.

thank you for your kind answer . it helps alot! im still a beginner^^ so please forgive me.

Controller : Phison PS2251-03-Q U01424C
NAND : TSOP-48 98DE989272 one crystal

if i get compatible ECC and XOR file i cann give a try :o

Don't feel bad, apart from maybe 1/2 dozen people, we are all Beginners. Flash takes some serious work to come to grips with. Most of it will be work that doesn't bring in money. Hard to sustain long term, and the more you know, the more you find out you don't know!

The XOR key largely depends on the codeword structure, block size, and controller markings, which aid in filtering the keys. However, few people share them online because XOR keys are typically encoded in software. Except for VNR, which provides keys in file format, any other keys existing in file format are based on individual or team reverse engineering. Therefore, you need to seek technical support from professionals, whether official or third-party, as they can help you quickly resolve cases. You must grasp more principles in this process to understand what we are doing and learn from it. However, this is not easy due to the complexity of flash memory devices, resulting in significantly fewer flash data recovery experts compared to hard drive data recovery experts.

Go to https://rusolut.com/visual-nand-reconst ... mentation/ and read both "books"
maybe more than once. Then go to their support and read everything in knowledgebase. They have put out the most information for public than anyone. It will take some time to digest it all. I had a lot going on in my life back when VNR was new and I really dropped the baton, and now I am running last place in the race. I don't envy anyone starting in flash now, unless they are a person that picks it up with passion and can really dive deep. Prior experience in anything electronics is really useful.

Data-Salvage, did you check if your dump contains data at all?
As for being a beginner, yeah, it is though. One thing is to understand how flash based storage work and another is to be able to use a specific software to get the desired result. Both are critical. I would recommend finding some old flash drives, maybe working ones, with known content and try to recover those with your tools. Yeah, nobody will pay for that in the first place but it is a good start.
Some really old ones (<1GB) do not use XOR (scrambling) and data is almost ok without ecc too, so you only need to read and solve the mix.
