Note to self: make PROPER notes

November 21st, 2024, 8:37

During basic training in 2019 I took notes during each training case, to be able to refresh my memory when I re-trained at a later time. For training case number 7 it seems I got sloppy because on step 6 I wrote "Markers table magic", without any details of what we actually did.

Now, five years later, I redid the case on my own. It's a bit tricky, and thanks to my useless notes I had to redo/rethink everything from scratch. I almost solved it, as in I can find MBR and the beginning of the filesystem, but the actual filenames and contents are bonkers because I missed some details. There's some pair/unite-magic and what-not, and when you take a step back and check how the case actually looks in VNR then you realize that you should have made proper notes during the class
