mrt-pro express - fire hazard protection non-circuit.

Seagates commonly have faulty power protection diodes. I frequently see them with shorted burnt diodes.
If you plug them into a pc it will shutdown the pc because of the sudden power drain.
Thats why I always look at the seagate for burnt diodes first.
The other day I plugged a seagate into my pc3k and got no response - I think I got 3 lights and no spin no ID.
So I thought ok maybe my new mrt-pro express will do better.

I connected it up clicked power on and looked for lights - no lights
but out of the corner of my eye I noticed a flickering, a yellow flickering - is that FLAMES !

I pulled the power cord and examined the mrt-pro.
This is the new version board, they eliminated the extra power control board - its all integrated into 1 board now.
Apparently they think they have short-circuit protection in there - guess they never tested it.
I just tested it for them - it doesn't work.
The board still kinda works it just cant control power on that port.
I dont understand why they dont just run a small cable to a pc-power-supply and remotely turn it off and on.
That would protect the mrt board, and if there is damage then its only a pc-power-supply.
They are easy to replace and can handle abuse.
And lucky me it happens the first day of their 6 day holiday.

I didn't hear about this kind of problem before. I am also using the seagate.
I want to ask that what kind of protection circuit it consist i mean the specifications of the full protection circuit?
Also how we could resolve this and is there any another alternate circuit instead of this one?

Do you have an MRT card? If so, show me a detailed photo of the relevant section(s) and I'll work it out for you.

There are probably hundreds of alternatives, but we can't get started until we understand the existing circuit. Do you have any electronics knowledge?
