What's the drive behavior? (Clicking)?
ATA registers shows nothing? Is the drive spin down?
If yes, then most likely a head/s problem.

Block SA access at start up by shorting points on PCB. Load overlay, load DIR to RAM (initialize dir). Try to check modules.

Similar procedure with WDMarvel (you need to adapt it to MRT) :

If it doesn't work :

If you get servo errors, etc you might have bad head(s) and/or pre-amp.
