Tanks MRT, A hard case solved. %100

Inside:
4 TB WD40EZRX 00SPEB0 Hdd with USB Bridge traingle PCB
UCB Bridge PCB No:4060 705149 000 REV A
Chip: Asmedia ASM1051W
HDD PCB No:2060 771945 002 REV A
FW: 80.00A80
ROM Firmware version : 00010083
Customer set password , also Self Encrypted with SA and PCB ( I am not sure only USB Bridge card or both card encription)

Problem :
USB Bridge PCB had electical problem. So drive not spinned.

Customer tried to get data before send me. He have opened case, unplug trangle PCB, And connected over sata port. But in windows there is a black , unallocated ,unknown, uninitilazed disk.
I connected his computer with teamviewer, tried to look inside with a hex editor. But there are nothing. Firstly I guessed drive has head problem. but he said HDD sentinel shows health %100. He told me I had password. I guessed, there is an only 1 clik solution. remove pasword button on MRT. :
And he send me the HDD.




It wasn't easy. I searched net, but I couldn't find safe informations.
I have learned so many things in this forum. Thanks HddGru .
So I decide to share this information.

Tomorrow I will explain proccedure, how did i solve % 100.

But I have checked PCB , I found 10 resistor died. Open circuit. there was extremly small. No information how much ohms....

I would say .... buy a new bridge board as it might be easy rather than messing with the drive firmware to unlock it and extarct the data / decrypt ...

I never tried to do this. I read same advice but it's not easy to find donor in my country. I didn't want to wait international shipping .And I don't know would it be solve that problem. But I will try later this way. Thanks

)) . It was a trying website. Nobody ask me a donor still )). Maybe in future.

Aproximatelly 500 donor in my hand. I can find lots of donor drives But all hdd. I dont have any other part yet.
And I was thinking about change my profile name in this forum.

Lets me try to write step bye step .

Hard disk on disk management. Not recognised, Unallocated ,unknown, uninitilazed .
Tried to look in with Hex editor.
Full bad sector.



I have followed 7 main steps.

1- Check USB - SATA Bridge PCB card.

I have found 9 resistors died. Extremly small and no value about how much ohms they are.
Also I dont know any swap information about this card.
And I dont want to waste time to find compatible donor

2-Connect over ATA connection with MRT.

When I connect to MRT there was Password Protection,
Tried to see Sa>>> not Allow
Tried to see sector view>>> All Error
Tried to check Ram And rom>>>> Error
Tried to do Logic Scan>>>> Full Red
Not Allow to see any data. I can see nothing. OMG.

3- Isolate SA and try to see some modules and rom.

Isolated PCB, Power ON,
I could see something now.
Some modules or Rom (I dont remember )
Disabled 411 , Removed Password, Unlocked Password
Power OF
Remove isolate, fix screews. RePower On
Now I can't see Modules , .............


I try to decrypte password protection. But cannot made a EDEK file. Also Module 25 ad 38 password part not show any
password protection information.

Still same.
Sector view>>>Error
Logic Scan>>>Full Red
SA modules>>> cannot see any modules

4- ReEnable 411
Enabled 411 , Power OF, Exit WD section, Power On , ReOpen WD Mawel section.

I can see modules now, And ROM.

Tried to see
sector view>>>>> Error
Logic Scan >>> Full red.


5- Adjust Mod 02

MRT tecnicians send me a proper 02 module file
I write it

reopen WD marwel section.
Now I could see modules, ROM, SA, Sector view, Logic scan Green. Kooool

But. Sector 0 signature data not 55AA.


6- Decrypte Pasword And Excract Data

Open WD Marvel,
Open Data explorer,
Adjust some settings to see decrypted data as ;

Task> Command to read > Read From Active MRT Utility > USB Decrypte> remove check from Auto...> ...........
SA Decrypte> Ok> Check sectors 0 , 63 , 2048 last value (signature ). 63 is full EE but 0 and 2048 signatue 55AA.

Yes. It is 55AA
Then follow excract steps as usual.

7- GPT Problem.
I cloned All 4 TB data to another HDD took 14 hour.. But in device manager shows me 3 part
1 495 Gb Raw, and unallocated 2. and 3th parts..

I have tried to made Adjust MBR to GPT , Cannot made it.
I have tried to Scan partitions with some programs, Easus, RStudio, MiniTool etc. Cannot made.
I tried to serch Partitions over MRT Data Explorer. Same view. 3 partitions.


8- FINAL

I have connected Data Explorer On MRT
Adjusted settings to decrypte,
Mounted disk to see windows
Tried to scan With R Studio.
I have could see Full size partitions there. Checked files, And Extracted % 100 . 0 bad sector.


Customer have woried about to loose data and HDD. He have guessed there was head or bad sector problem.
I would bring a patient HDD with full recovered %100 data.

Note: Some steps may be mixed. I typed what I remember.

It was a hard case for me. But Customer and also me very very hapy to get data from this hard case.
My hardest recovery ever.

Not if you have PC-3000. It takes less than 5 min to do this and be cloning/decrypting on the fly. Now, doing it with MRT is another much glitchier time wasting story.

Not stable specially with Apollo (sometimes works & sometimes not)
