Hi need some help here.
I have this patient drive WD40NMZW-11GX6S1 which I swaped the USB PCB to SATA. After that I tried to load them into MRT utility by shortening TV9 and TV10. I couldn't manage to ID it. It failed and stuck in busy mode. Did I missed anything or is there another way to get this drive to ID in MRT?
Patient USB PCB: 2060-800041-003- Rev P1
SATA PCB: 2060-800022-002 Rev P1

I don't think this is true. It's Spyglass I.
What is original problem of the drive?
Why you want to short read channel?

No such thing as “unlocked PCB” for Spyglass, it’s just a SATA one from a SATA version. I think mainly they come from WD wireless drives.

Ahhh, my bad. Somehow my brain convinced me this was a Charger.
Guess I'll have to buy 800065. Do you recomend a seller in particular?

Donordrives, hddzone... or freelancers like eric lee or sunny. Be careful if you buy from alibaba etc, you can find good prices but you have no guarantee what you'll get. I got two of these Spyglass SATA PCBs and they both arrived dead. I managed to fix one of them but the other was FUBAR.
Donordrives and hddzone will give you moneyback or replacement guarantee in case something goes wrong with the part.

regarding the whole locking and unlocking mechanism.
Has that got something to do with the bootloader of the MCU.
Example: STM32 Nucleo boards are supplied with factory bootloader that resides in some offset in the MCU itself considering June 2018RM0385 Rev 81/17241RM0385Reference manual.
It would be quite a job to know the MCU chip id, find its memory map and investigate the BL.
Also, do you think the unlocked boards are just having a BL patched to bypass security features.
As a novice embedded guy,I am just guessing.
let me know.
