Hello, Good morning colleagues.

I have a somewhat strange case that has never reached me until now.

This unit came with a faulty USB PCB which was completely dead. The PCB was changed to its compatible SATA variant and the ROM was moved.

USB PCB: 2060-800041-003 Rev P1
SATA PCB Unlocked: 800022-002 RevP1

The disk when I connect it to the MRT turns on and you can hear the engine start, the heads come out. No click of dead sounds.

The mrt automatically recognizes the SpyGlass family and I can start the utility, it gives me disk ID but I get errors at startup. (Attached image)

If the unit scans it, I get all the sectors in red and I don't have access to the data. I can't make a backup of the modules either.

I have backed up the rom from the eeprom programmer because it was impossible to do it from the mrt, it always gave me a failure, I have verified with the wdROMv15.exe utility from our colleague fzabkar and apparently it is fine.

I also noticed that the rom has the firmware version 20022. I have downloaded a few firmware from hddsurgery and none of them load. All give error.

As I also have a DFL, I have programmed to connect it and it does exactly the same to me.

Does anyone think of how I can proceed?

Note: The serial number shown on the mrt and the disc sticker is the same.

I assume that you are using an unlocked PCB?

Check the zero-ohm resistor near the USB connector. It is often open circuit. If so, then reflow the solder and you should be OK.

Which one are you referring to?

I attach a picture of the USB PCB.

I'm sorry for answering delay. This week I will have a lot of work in other services and I will have this case stopped for now. The customer is not in a hurry.

I will test that resistance next week and report the results.

Thanks for the help.
