I have updated to 2.1.7.1
Watched videos and readed PDF unlocking steps.
Saying need programmer ver 3. And It would release later. PDF Saying " MRT will release programmer 3 later. "But there is no info about work with old type programmer or terminal. We should desolder Rom , unlock and write unlocked ROM and solder to PCB. After then exchange command.

I have bought unlocked PCB's before also. Swap ROM chip to unlocked PCB . thats it. Drive ready directly.
Sure MRT's unlocking 800xx PCBs so nice work. But cannot test it yet.

I have tested a little more and this is what I've found:

You can use one SATA pcb with several ROMs , means, if you have one pcb you can use it several times no matter what ROM you write on it, as long as you use the MRT unlock method.
Also it works for Palmer USB pcb if it is connected to terminal.
I think it goes the same way for Charger too.

I have been saying this since ages ,MRT is a Great Data Recovery Tool but the only issue is its Data Extractor And Support/Documentation .

Its true.
Steps for USB or SATA locked PCB (according to my equipment. Sata PCB+ Terminal,+ external programmer (MRT set have it.)
-Desolder ROM from USB PCB
-Put USB ROM chip to external programmer (opt. backup original locked ROM dump=A)
-Connect WD utility,
-"Unlock and write" to ROM over external programmer (or sellect locked ROM file (A) ,make unlocked Rom file (B) and write unlockled file to chip (C) with external programmer manually)
-Solder unlocked Rom to SATA PCB (C) (Or write unlocked ROM (B) to sata PCB over WD utilty. You should have an unlocked PCB. so it should allow to write rom )
-And SATA PCB ready .
-Connect WD utility +terminal + handshake (exchange command)
-Access SA

Programmer has no much matter since you can desolder ROM read it using different pcb or cheap programmer, patch it as ROM file in MRT , write and solder back.

That is the problem.......In the last version of the software, when you try to patch from file, not from programmer, it still asks for programmer to be present.
I have talked with them and they say it's a "strategy ". They prohibit use of other hardware with MRT software.....
In other words, if we want to patch from file we will need the ver 3.0 programmer. Shame on them. It's not fair.

It was the first 2171 version of software that was working without asking for programmer.
