Post subject:  WD10EZEX-00WN4A0 track 0 bad , possible to DE?

Hi,

I have WD 1Tb, WD10EZEX-00WN4A0.
HDD ready, take time/slow to RDY, SA is accessible. Head test, Head 0 error to read. SA structure test, found some of SA modules error as in pic, I collected error modules only.
Since Head 0 error to read, replaced the head unit with same hdd donor, problem remain. I wonder, the head from donor, when I returned to donor hdd, now donor hdd having same issue as patient.

My question is track 0 bad , possible to DE? Beside patient platter damage donor head due to patient track 0 is bad? Physically, no scratch on platter.

Thanks for help.

if donor heads got damaged, then almost surely there is some surface problem on side0.
A SW-only solution won't solve this problem...

hi Pepe,

Yes, patient hdd platter on track 0 it may damage and if any head that try to read it will be spoiled.
So, no chance to recover user data/DE.
Thank you

could it happen due to lower (or instable) spindle speed caused by partial seizure?
In this scenario i would aspect micro scratches on surface and head will get damaged.
