MRT reads and copies all the data as Sector all 0

June 22nd, 2023, 22:44

WD40NDZW-11A8JS0 with broken heads, unlocked firmware and after head swap and Loading LDR and loading modules 10,11,1B we got access to the data and in File explorer I could see the folders...etc so I started copying the data as virtual VHDX and it was copying green but suddenly turned to blue (sector all 0) so I soft reset and turned off/on the drive and now every time I start the copy it copies blue which means no data is in there? and in File Explorer I get an error and no Folders showing.

donor heads killed T2 for good... most likely.

I think it is. after head swap I backed up and saved all modules including 190, so I can load it if I need to.

The donor was brand new and exact model number and same date so it is compatible, I don't know why it would kill T2. is there any way to find out for sure in T2 is dead? and if it is then is there anyway to recover the data?

190 is dead/wiped, ergo T2 killed.
I don't know if MRT has the ability to do anything about it, pc3k can recover it probably.
The main reason is that you didn't write protect the drive after head swap.

Is there any link or tutorial to explains how to write protect the drive after head swap, so next time I can avoid this problem?

You were right 190 and T2 were dead. I found a tutorial on MRT shows how to fix it. but even after I fixed it every time I tried to start copying data the hard drive turned itself off and on and killed T2. so I had to send 190 to MRT technician to modify it for me and sent it to me then I loaded it to the RAM and it's working now.

here is the link in case someone comes cross the same problem.

I don't know MRT so I can't help, maybe the tech that helped you with this case can point you to the right direction.
Generally, there are two ways: Hardware WP and software WP. PC3k has implemented a software WP solution a long time ago and it works quite nice. To me, hardware WP is even better.

to my understanding, sw WP requires writing to SA, so it is kind of strange...
