What connector is this?

August 22nd, 2009, 23:00

Toshiba A135 laptop, 2007
Hitachi Travelstar 2.5 PATA HDD HTS541680J9SA00

I need to get the data off this HDD but I'm puzzled by the connector.
It isn't a normal IDE connector with pins, it's more like a male edge connector.

What kind of adapter do I need to hook this up to my 3.5 IDE-to-USB adapter? What's it called? What am I looking for? (And where can I get it?) :?

Er, it's SATA, not PATA.

This is known as 2.5" SATA / S-ATA (Serial ATA) laptop hard drive. It is the type of hard drive that is used by modern day laptops and succeeded IDE(also known as PATA, DMA, UDMA,ATA, P-ATA, Parallel-ATA)which has connector pins. You could use a 2.5" SATA external caddy enclosure which has a sata connection-one end will connect to the hard drive and the other will connect to your laptop/pc via USB. I hope that helps
