Dont you just hate

November 2nd, 2009, 16:20

im not sure how many of you advertise with google, microsoft, yahoo, etc., with their Pay Per Click and im not only talking about data recovery, im talking about any industry such as selling products as well. but dont you just hate when competitors click on your ad for no reason what-so-ever other than to just to waste your money...a bit childish i think and those are the people that are ruining the industry because they are frauds... in every sense of the word. When someone clicks on your ad just to mess with you and doesnt identify themselves... what are some peoples opinions on this? please share

At the price per click I pay, it's crazy. just look at the money Google are earning off our backs. Why not get yourself an auditing service such as Who's Clicking Who .com - it'll help you identify what's going on. Not much use when people are on a dynamic IP, but it may help you prevent bogus clicks.

true but people in IT are pretty crafty about that stuff... which it easy for some to do but tough to unmask them...

One of the major problems is that Google have no business case to stop this type of thing happening. One of my competitors created a script to keep hitting my Google Ad every 5 minutes, but my monitoring software picked it up and I was able to block their IP Range. As DMR says, there are ways around this, like using dialup, other wireless LAN's or renewing your IP.

In a perfect world, our advertising spend would be half what it is now and the money could be better spent on training, R&D, equipment and staff benefits, but that's life.

Hi ZeBong, if they detect multiple clicks from the same IP, they automatically ignore this click. My real issue with this system is that there is no transparency with the process. I use the Who's Clicking Who service which gives me a daily report of the clicks on my ad and I can compare this to what Google Adwords is telling me.

I schedule my ads so they don't run at night as this time seems to attract more abuse and unwanted clicks.

Last time I checked, the "Data Recovery" keyword is valued at up to €10 per click

it goes up daily, some clicks go for $15 or even $20 a click and that gets you ranked 5 or 6th pending on what day and time slot you are in... Google is good in what they do, but prevention of this type of thing is not possible, you will have those companies which are looked down upon, doing such a thing, the same companies that customers post all over the internet that they have bad business practices... it is sad because people try to make an honest living and providing good service but you have people that want to run them out of business by wasting their money by clicking on their ads. karma is a ******
