Netbook as an external Hard drive?

I want to use my compaq Atom netbook as an external hard drive for my PC. Saving all my files on it so I can have them also on the go. Is this possible? tks.

Why not simply use an external Hard Disk in an enclosure? Or a USB memory stick?

What do youe mean mehdi? Do you want your netbook to work as a NAS (network attached drive) so you plug it into a network or wifi conenction and you can access files from another computer as if it were a network drive?
This is possible and there is nice light weeght and easy to configure OS to do this. But you wont be able to use your notebook for anything else.

I assume thats what you want? otherwise its just as simple as buying an external usb hard drive like hddguy mentioned, plug into your netbook and you have extra hard drive.

Window 7 has networking options, as does Vista and XP. All you need is a hub, WIFI, router, or what ever you are using. If you have router and no WIFI you need some RJ45 cable. Configure the two system to talk to each other. Dump what you want on your notebook and take it with you. Only problem in these configurations is that when you update your notebook and not your other system files get over written too easily if you do not know what you are doing on this one. Like HDDGuy said in your case it might be easier if you do not understand this configuration and how to do it buy a HDD and use it on both of them. Then your files stay updated and do not have a change to be over written. If you are using Window 7 on one and Vista on another this will not work for you. You can run 2 Window 7 and network together or you can use Windows XP and Vista together and network them together.
