CHKDSK Error

August 26th, 2010, 15:33

I'm having check-disk error on my 1TB drive, to be specific on the 200GB partition on it (currently have 2 partitions, 50gb & 200 gb). I'm attaching pics, so you can have an idea whats the problem.

Basically, the problem comes at step 2. After performing the chkdsk/r at the startup, the same error occurs. I also performed a Quick Test by using Data Lifeguard Diagnostic for Windows and it gave the following result:

Test Option: QUICK TEST
Model Number: WDC WD10EARS-00Z5B1
Unit Serial Number: WD-WMAYM0011199
Firmware Number: 80.00A80
Capacity: 1000.20 GB
SMART Status: PASS
Test Result: PASS
Test Time: 00:23:26, August 27, 2010

Can anyone please tell me what is going wrong here? I've googled a lot and the chkdsk/r which came up as a solution is not working at all. Please help. :)

try chkdsk /f from dos
and see if it goes through

before that try to set it as slave and read it from other windows or ext. usb

Backing up a bit,

You should never run checkdisk on a failing drive.

It could still be failing. If you really feel the need to run checkdisk on something that is giving you problems, you should definitely at least make a backup first.

Chkdsk errors can be fixed by click on Start and Run. Enter the word chkdsk into the Open text box and hit Enter. Choose Automatically Correct Errors. Click on Start to begin the chkdsk scan. Errors will be fixed once the scan was completed. Otherwise, contact professionals for assistance.
