Iomega Screenplay 500 GB - problems after changing HDD

I recently changed the broken Samsung HDD (Spinpoint HD 501LJ) of my Iomega Screenplay with a Western Digital WD5000AAKS.NTFS formatted,primary partition created and charged my videoclips.All seemed OK,but using the remote for "next" "previous" and sometimes "reading index" the device stops displaying,the yellow LED stay ON,showing that it's working but unable to read or find the title.
Also charged updated firmare,but nothing.My doubt is that the new HDD is not performing like the old one,but this seems to me strange if comparing their specification.
Someone can help me? Thank you.

Full model of ur drive plz ? I suggest taking it out and saving your clips now, in case the drive is planing to shake its earthly bounds. Upon backip up all info - pop ur drive in a computer and run surface scan on it ( i suggest MHDD ) Post the results.

The new HDD is a WD Caviar Blue WD5000AAKS 500 GB and I just partioned and fast formatted it with Xp.You think possible that a new WD be bugged? Anyway I will try MHDD and thanks for the suggestion!
