How fair is ACE Lab when it comes to paying for your tools?

November 10th, 2010, 20:31

If you own the UDMA you are required to pay a yearly service to ACE labs for all your updates. We all know this one is 900 euro per year. So what happens for most of you who own more than one UDMA. You pay a lot to this to keep it updated. Now check out this. I know the portable is not as good as the card but why do they get it all for free. If you own a portable UDMA you get what you need for free. Not long ago I got this email sent to me from ACE. Wow should I buy a portable UDMA for me and get it all for free? I feel that the policy of ACE should be the same for all. No mater what material you own from them. If we pay for the Flash, UDMA, UDMA SCSI each year why not charge for the portable UDMA too. Why should they have it for free and we have to pay them for what we get. How do you feel on this one anyone or everyone.

I Agree with u here on this

but i think as u said, the portable is not as good as the card, and this is some kind of promoting the portable
since its not moving compared to the card ver.

Me myself, i prefer Acelab Equipments more than the others, when u do small research comparing Acelab products with others, you will find that it is better than the others, and so far no one came with other tools that does the same.
maybe some parts of acelab are been under research by others, but 100% not the same

Plus,

If you buy from Acelab and you are and should make money out of it, then why not pay for updates?
Update Prices are yes little high, but in my point of view, they are spending alot on developing side
and testing and so, they need to cover this by some how, which is from us, Acelab Clients.

I can see that they are now really changed, but hope that they go better and more

:>

..

I think this is only one time offer, not a continous support.
Maybe the previous version have some bigger bug wich should be fixed before makes more problem or similar...

+ can be some marketing technique as well of course. :)

Are you sure that youi pay 900 Euro's for each card in your company? ;0)

IMHO 900 Euro's is quite cheap when you think your getting updates and Ace are still researching newer models. If they did not charge for updates they would be unemployed very soon as the market must be near saturation point for udma

Agree, especially compared to the avg cost of a recovery to an end customer. I understand this differs from region to region, but even so. 900 euros a year is way less than you would pay an employee to develop your own solution for you and keep it updated, etc

Europe is paying 900 EU a year. NA supposed to pay $1,860/year CAN ( CAN $ and US $ at par AFAIK )

yes it's reversed. Europe typically over PAYS for US designed products , in this case it's the opposite

ACE have very strange ideas about prices, my country does not have standard like US/UK and so on, but the prices are like for that countries, so it's kinda not very affordable and in here you can not charge 1000+ $ for DR job no one will pay such money or it would be like 2 times/year at best. I don't see why we can not get pc3k at the domestic/Russian price and just not get the support, now either we have to buy cloned shit or we have to ask a friend from Russia to buy for us and do stupid stuff to get updates...

/ I think it's racism :) ACE hates us as we are ex-communist country /
