hello it does state that the information can not be published anywhere.

but i would ask the Dmitry Postrigan on the forum the owner

he might say its ok to translate it into another language

But I think the loser is a significant segment of Spanish-speaking users.

MHDD source code now belongs to Seagate, therefore I guess you would have to ask Seagate about it. I have no right to publish source code or continue development, unfortunately...

they can put the url into google translate and navigate through it in Spanish, I think the translation would be quite adequate to help them use the tool.

I wouldn't think that there would be anything inappropriate in translating the manual for a free product. In any case you could always use your own words.

In fact I've always wondered how Ann LeFlore was able to get away with translating SalvationData's manuals and then make money by selling them. Doesn't that constitute a copyright violation?

I thought she wrote them in the first place, or rewrote them for training courses that didn't happen.. something like that. Way before my time.. Politics of that type is "not my bag, baby"

Ann didn't just "translate" her manuals from Chinese, she created them herself. And has full permission to do so from SD. So there is no "copyright violation".

The reason I asked this question was that I had an amicable private discussion with a SalvationData rep after he had posted a poorly translated announcement in this forum. I had suggested that SD engage their local distributors to proofread their public news releases, and I also offered to proofread and polish up the English translations of their product manuals. I had been tempted to do it anyway, but I was concerned about copyright issues. I did mention Ann's manuals, but I received no futher communication. This was at about the time when Ann had had a very public dummy spit against SD in this forum, so perhaps I hit a nerve.
