western digital continuing to infringe on rivals IP

November 21st, 2014, 1:08

Guys, seems like these people in western digital have not learnt their lesson not to infringe on rivals intellectual property. Their media plant in Singapore recently hired an ex seagate staff who is divulging seagates processes to them. Also they are actively discussing how to adapt showa's process settings. See the screen grab from an internal email

the most blazingly obvious thing here is that if this stuff is indeed IP, and this is information not to be divulged to competitors, then why the hell EMAIL it? And word it so obvious that it is competitors info?

Surely everyone must know by now that email is not secret and has been the un-doing of many people.

Are people really this stupid??

It is no wonder the only people making a crap-ton of $$ out of anything "cyber" is the criminals. Criminals prey on the weak and ill-informed there is no shortage of ill-informed tech users out there.

Indeed people are so stupid. This email in internal communication which makes these people think it will never make it out. There is another term often used in western digital..TOG process...the other guys = TOG. These people also buy thin film media from external sources and its common to send audit teams which include their own upstream thin film media plant personnel to such audits guised as disk drive assembly plant personnel. All these has been happening for years. From what I know they have done it to Showa and also Fuji in the past.

If this is confidential IP in the email, are you not liable for leaking it to the masses on this forum and subject to legal action from Seagate?

johntemplar14 cross posted this in a forum discussing IP law. We're discussing that exact topic there, in case anyone is interested.

Seagate has an anonymous webpage to receive tips like this at:

They also have people that research stolen IP that would be interested in this:

Hope this helps,

Is "ozone infused deionised water spray" subject to a patent?

AFAICT, using ozone to remove silanes is a well established process:

http://www.abtechsci.com/pdfs/clean0501.pdf

E. UV-Ozone Clean

This procedure removes monomolecular layers of chemically bound organics on metallic and oxide
surfaces. Chemisorbed and covalently bound self-assembled monolayers of adventitious organics,
alkane thiols, and silane layers may be removed using this procedure.
