The resolution is to small to read, but i would think its a temperature sensor.
Can you give us a close-up of this chip ?

Did it come on the drive like that? It appears to just be a chip and a connector. I'm guessing there is no internal connection. My best guess is an eeprom, maybe to hold info (Like a barcode), or to store part of an encryption key, or maybe as some copy-protection-like device? I'm sure someone will know, I'm just guessing...

I didn't think of a Temp sensor. That actually makes sense. The numbers should tell...

I forgot to look up the chip number on Google. It’s definitely a temp sensor (TMP75). The drive came from a Mac. Why wouldn't Mac use the temp sensor inside the drive?

Looks like the drive came out of a MAC.
it's a temperture sensor that shut down computer if drive gets too hot .

Anyway, it is really interesting!

I think too, it has no internal connection.
More interesting part is the jumper pins or connector on the side....

I agree, I have seen them in Mac's too.

Then, The PCB of the temp sensor is not integrated to the HD, No?

Yep, looks like an iMac temperature sensor. All the drives in newish iMacs have these, the plugs on them go into the Mac's logic board and the back side of the little PCB has a sticky substance for sticking onto the HD's. We have to make sure to transfer these when we are replacing iMac drives under Apple warranty.

It has nothing to do with the drive. It's attached to the drive by apple to shutdown mac when the drive gets too hot.

Are you seriously going to keep bumping old-ass posts that have already been answered just to repeat the same thing everyone else has said?
