This contains very basic information, and colourful cartoons. Not really for any professionals in my opinion...

$11 is about the price of a cheap multimeter, but I already know how to use one of those. Maybe I'll buy the book ... or the download, if I can make sense of the pricing.

Why does a download of the hardback version of the B&W book cost more than a download of the paperback version of the same 516 page book?

And why does a download of the 516 page colour version cost somewhere in between?

Must be down to the extra costs of the binding?
Maybe it costs more to ship it via TCP/IP ?
The hardback may be signed by the author to you friend, partner etc etc

The B&W version should be cheaper for people with colour blindness !!!

OK, I'm convinced. I'll invest $11 in a box of........ instead.

I think I'll have more fun time.

Hold on folks once the book is finally purchased after he decides which one is best to invest in we are in trouble now We will not only have electronic information on TVS here on the forum we will have this quotes from the book too. I am looking forward to seeing this one really. This should be good.

Uhm... so if I invest $11 in a box of condoms (this was my idea) then I am entitled to give advice on the matter on forum ?

I am not sure where to copy/paste :D

Only if you work out how to use them.

There is no need to worry, Ann.

Believe me when I say that my motives are purely altruistic. If they clash with the spirit of this forum, then that is purely accidental. Besides, I know just how tedious it can be to see the same jobs day after day. Snipping TVS diodes must be mindless drudgery. I used to hate that kind of work. All it amounts to is pocket money. If I were a DR guy, I would much rather be doing the more intellectually satisfying, higher paying jobs.

As for Scott's book, I think I'll download the colour version (I hope he doesn't use too much green and red -- I'm a dichromat), and if the information proves interesting, I'll buy the B&W paperback.

I'll be sure to let the group know if I find it useful. Sometimes you need an objective perspective ...

Sure. Till now, we were using them on molex power connectors to protect TVSs.

I reckon it's an intelligence test. I suspect that if your choose the hardback download, Scott sends you an email telling you that you're too stupid to take up data recovery.

BTW, when I get to the checkout page, I'm advised that I may also like "Fossil Preparation 2010", "My Life with Laura: A Love Story", "Cash, Cars and College", and "A Thousand Veils". I can understand the cash and cars (that's why people take up DR, isn't it?), but the others are a mystery.

Data recovery is a dying profession. Fossil preparation is where it's at!

In the book ""My Life with Laura: A Love Story" I cover such topics as

1: Head clean, inspection and removal
2: Platter extraction
3: Spindle removal and replacement
4: Flash chip removal
5: And of course a sub plot of romance and intrigue
