I have just received this very entertaining communication from Eugene (he deals with abuse and legal issues for several quite big projects including HDD Guru):

Please remove all of these various invasions of privacy publishing multiple instances of personal information, profiles, identifying information, images and phone numbers.

Remove this identifying information immediately from this public forum.
These multiple and egregious offenses are illegal under current internet privacy law. These actions are of an endangering and threatening nature.

Hello Graham,

From your message:

This clearly does not apply to HDD Guru forum. And, besides, all that
data was copied by the forum member from open public resources.

Graham,

You are very welcome to proceed. Please keep us informed.

In the meantime, I will suggest moderators of HDD Guru to post this
conversation for a public review.

Instead of removing a post containing several invasions of privacy in the form of
a matrix of information intended to discredit and identify an individual and advertise the personal opinions of one of your registered users, you are actually seeking to
contribute to further violations and encourage publicity of privacy violations
within the forum of this website for the purposes of intimidation and defamation?

Your noncompliance with privacy concerns reflects a wider failure of webmasters to protect the privacy rights of visitors.

Your 'moderators' are not licensed to troll about investigating, defaming and accusing hundreds of technicians, websites and companies and organizations they know the least bit about, publishing sensitive information and commenting for the purpose of causing loss of property or business in a public forum.

I don't need to pursue legal or criminal action, I will merely publish the details of these transgressions on relevant or competing websites and file complaints wherever applicable in public forums that will appear in search results.

What I would suggest to Graham is to forget any thoughts about legal action. Instead, the best way to handle your detractors is to join the forum and show them what you know and what you can do. Even better still, show them and their peers what they don't know.

Of course you will be relying on an impartial referee, not someone who looks the other way while you cop a beating, and then throws in the towel when you start to hit back.

This post is in regards to Dr. Currin, otherwise known as 'drc'

Seeing as you posted an abundance of my personal information,
including pictures, links etc, phone numbers, addresses with no knowledge
whatsoever of what I do, you have earned yourself the the reputation of:

1.) Stalker
2.) Troll
3.) Privacy Violator
4.) (Criminal?)
5.) twat

Although, I'm not certain, but posting volumes of information on an individual
in a public forum can result in a variety of legal actions such as a Restraining Order,
Defamation, I believe the list goes on.

So, let's have three cheers for Dr. Currin, the Hard Drive Nazi, addicted to insulting HD noobs, who spends his time on a forum violating your privacy and publishing the results in public forums along with his own half-baked personal commentary!

What? you say there's a similar posting of Dr. Currin's complete information in some other public forums? Oh the information age is a great age indeed!

Oh . . . if only the admin had just removed the post as I had requested . . .

I am sorry, but we do not remove posts just because someone does not like them. Especially when someone sends us emails like yours. If we did that, we would have to remove half of the posts on this forum.

Did the guy already get a job to pay a lawyer?
Or dis some recoveries to earn money? Or is he still finding pennies on the street?

What an IDIOT....

Dmitry, I apologize if my posting has caused you any headaches

I guess from here we just have to wait to hear about the great Graham-vs-Google legal action

What would be idiotic would be sit back and do nothing while somebody takes the time out of their day to assemble a incomplete picture, or catalog of information about you and posts it in a PUBLIC FORUM with the idea of misleading, misinforming and generally having a laugh. You see it is OH SO funny, until it happens to YOU.

Do I teach guitar lessons? Do I live and work in Manhattan? Did I bum around Nashville 2 years ago for a month and get salty as hell? Do I have a bachelor's in 3D visualization and media arts? Am I engaged to be married and pursuing a graduate degree in Earth and Atmospheric Science? Am I a songwriter from Chicago? Do I operate a graphic design business? Have I saved many hard drives from the blundering actions and opinions and of untrained computer shop workers and retail employees from Geek Squad, Staples and the Apple Store? All of the above.

Good luck with your work at Salvage Data in Reston, VA and hope you put up your 4talents.com website soon.
