I went for Seagate as until recently, they were good drives. When I replace, what are other users experiences.. I have been looking at Hitachi as we havent seen many of the 500 gb+ drives for recovery.

Still got my old maxtors which are still going strong after like 3 years :mrgreen: Ive had 2 WDs before and they failed after a year.

most seagates have 5 years warrantee, must be a good reason for that

Here in Tahiti they order what ever is the cheapest on the market to get at the time. I think they go to trading companies to find what they want. Wish they would read these posts before buying all the crap they do here. I see mostly Maxtors, WD, and Seagates, Toshiba and IBM for laptops. So it is hard to say which is the best you get what is available here
